MASTER BLASTERS
Master Blaster is part of Cricket Australia's early development program following on from the Junior Blaster program. It is designed for boys and girls from ages 7 to 9 and helps develop children's understanding of how the game is played in readiness for Under 12’s.
The Master Blaster program is typically a 12 week program, where girls and boys have a fun introduction to cricket as an organised game and play simultaneous games of 12 over cricket all on one field. The game runs for approximately 90 minutes against different teams. Each team has 6 players who bat in pairs for four over’s each and each player bowls two over’s each.
The format allows parents and coaches to interact with participants throughout, ensuring the skills of cricket are taught in an action-packed game. It provides children with an enjoyable and safe learning environment where they can build their confidence, develop new skills and play games.
From ages nine onwards, we encourage children with the right skill level to move into our U/12 teams. The Mordialloc Junior Cricket Club's Master Blaster Program is co-ordinated by experienced coaches with accredited coaching qualifications, ensuring that your children will receive sound advice and coaching. The program teaches children the most important lesson of all which is to have FUN and LOVE THE GAME!
Fees and Registration:
Fees for the Master Blast program is $99.00.
Session Times:
Session start times will be confirmed soon. Sessions are normally held on Saturday mornings from 9am to 10:30am at Jack Grut Reserve, Governor Road, Mordialloc.
Program:
The session runs for approximately 90 minutes. Two teams of approximately 6 kids play each other on a small field. There are two innings and each side faces 12 overs and bowls 12 overs. When batting, kids will bat in pairs for 4 overs. Runs are scored for each run made. Each wicket is awarded 4 extra runs to the bowling side. Coaches will ensure kids change ends as required to ensure each child faces an even amount of balls. The fielding side is encouraged to push outwards to encourage the batting pair to bat and run more often.
Volunteers:
We need volunteers. No previous cricket experience is necessary. A program such as this needs parents to volunteer and help work with the coaches. Each team requires a Coach and a Team Manager to assist in coordinating the team. We recommend all parents rotate with scoring each game.
Clothing:
All children must wear a hat, sunscreen and appropriate shoes (runners).
Weather:
At all times, Mordialloc Junior Cricket Club will conduct the Master Blaster sessions in a safe environment. The program is held outdoors so weather will (and does) affect us. Mordialloc Junior Cricket Club reserves the right to cancel a session if the ground is unsafe for any reason. The following weather cancellation policies apply:
-
Wet weather: if it is pouring on the day and the ground is likely to be saturated. It is up to parent’s discretion on intermittent rainy days.
-
Hot weather: if the temperature reaches the temperature outlined by SECA's hot weather policy, we will cancel the session.
